Urbasolar inaugurates the first ground-mounted power plant in the Dordogne department

A solar power plant on the old racing circuit.

In the town of Faux, in the Dordogne region, the first solar power plant in Dordogne was inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Alain Legal, Congressman Michel Delpon, Senator Bernard Cazeau, Vice President of the Senate Claude Bérit-Débat, Prefect Anne-Gaëlle Baudouin-Clerc, and the Urbasolar teams, along with numerous elected officials and residents of the town.
Situated on an abandoned racetrack and former clay pigeon shooting range, this project is part of a communitywide desire to rehabilitate and depollute highly impacted lands and make the site an example of renewable energy use.
The project was therefore accompanied by strong environmental measures, in particular with the creation of favorable habitats for butterflies, the installation of fencing with passages for wildlife, the planting of compensatory wooded areas, and even the marking of temperate zones to preserve.
This 16 ha park, equipped with 40,920 French panels, develops a capacity of 11.5 MWp, and will produce the equivalent of the consumption of 5,000 households (excluding heating) yearly.
The French photovoltaic specialist URBASOLAR developed, financed, and built this exemplary solar power plant. It will handle its operation from its supervision center in Montpellier.
The creation of this virtuous project has once again underlined the quality of Urbasolar’s offers for communities. It also illustrates the pertinence of developing solar energy and the energy transition, where regions and companies have a major role to play.
