By choosing to include social integration clauses* on its construction sites, the group supports the return to work of vulnerable individuals and demonstrates that building a solar power plant represents a tremendous opportunity to take local action to create jobs.

It was in 2024, as part of the construction of the Sommières power plant in the Gard region, that Urbasolar first allocated more than 350 hours of work to people who were far from the job market. This initiative enabled several beneficiaries, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds or in the process of reintegration, to return to the workforce and actively contribute to the region’s development.

With the help of PLIES Est-Hérault and the Airelle-ETTI agency, earthwork and cleanup projects were successfully implemented. The support of local organizations proved essential to the success of this initiative, particularly in defining social clauses tailored to local needs, selecting beneficiaries, and coordinating with local employment integration stakeholders.

This virtuous approach helps combat unemployment and social exclusion while leveraging a local workforce, and provides genuine support for sustainable and inclusive employment.

Building on its success in Sommières, Urbasolar will implement social integration clauses in 2025–2026 at two new construction sites, located in Eure-et-Loir and Ardèche, respectively. Furthermore, the group intends to continue its efforts on new projects, with the goal of expanding its impact to a growing number of solar power plants across the country.

As a major player in the solar energy sector, Urbasolar aims to demonstrate that the energy transition can also be a driver of social inclusion and solidarity in the regions where it operates. Through its actions, the group reaffirms its commitment to embedding the growth of renewable energy within a comprehensive approach, where environmental performance and social responsibility go hand in hand.

* A social inclusion clause is a condition for the execution of a contract, whether public or private, that allows a portion of working hours to be reserved for people in vulnerable situations and those who are far from the job market: people with disabilities, young people without qualifications, recipients of minimum social benefits, long-term job seekers, etc.
