As an additional benefit for users, installing photovoltaic parking canopies allows you to anticipate future regulatory obligations by installing vehicle charging stations powered by renewable electricity. Finally, by equipping your parking canopies with nighttime lighting, you ensure the safety of your users and the site.
Which parking lots can accommodate solar canopies?
Since July 1, 2023, all existing parking lots larger than 1,500 m² (approximately 80 spaces) must be equipped with photovoltaic canopies on at least 50% of their area by 2026. This obligation strengthens the existing regulation, which already requires all new parking lots larger than 500 m² to install photovoltaic canopies on 50% of their parking area since January 2024.
Although these new regulations may be perceived as a constraint, installing photovoltaic canopies provides numerous benefits for your customers, users, and employees, while transforming a non-productive space into a source of electricity production.
