Photovoltaic Rooftops

How does a photovoltaic rooftop work?

A photovoltaic rooftop is a rooftop that integrates solar panels either during the construction of the building or afterward, allowing the production of renewable energy that can be injected into the grid or self-consumed to cover part of the building’s energy needs.

Buildings must meet several criteria regarding waterproofing, safety, insulation, and the strength of the frame, among others. A rooftop is considered ‘PV Ready’ when it meets all these essential conditions for hosting a photovoltaic installation.

Photovoltaic rooftops thus represent a high level of technicality and innovation.

Our expertise in large building rooftops

Our expertise and numerous client references have enabled us to acquire solid skills in solarizing rooftops of industrial, logistics, tertiary, and commercial buildings. The photovoltaic solutions we offer take into account the specific constraints of each rooftop (slope, frame, insulation, lighting, air conditioning, heating, building height…) as well as regulatory and technological developments.

We are therefore able to offer solutions for flat rooftops (overlay solution) and pitched rooftops.

Indeed, in terms of fire resistance, the entire assembly consisting of the rooftop, photovoltaic panels or films, their supports, their insulators (thermal, waterproofing), and more generally all components (electrical or otherwise) associated with the panels must at least meet the same fire resistance performance requirements as those imposed on the rooftop alone.

We master all parameters, whether regulatory or technical constraints, to optimize the placement of panels on rooftops, enabling us to propose efficient and innovative solar installations.

What are the advantages of a photovoltaic rooftop?

Installing photovoltaic panels on your rooftop is a choice for energy efficiency for your building. Often unused, rooftops present an opportunity to enhance real estate assets while aligning with a decarbonization policy.

Photovoltaic rooftops developed by Urbasolar offer many advantages:

ENHANCE

your asset Thanks to the green energy produced, you can qualify for an energy label (BREEAM, HQE, and BEPOS), thereby enhancing your environmental approach. Solar rooftops actively contribute to achieving your energy transition goals and can be an essential lever in your CSR strategy.

COMPLY

with regulations : They meet regulatory requirements (Climate & Resilience Law of 2019 supplemented by the APER Law of March 2023), which mandate the installation of renewable energy production devices, such as photovoltaic solar panels, on 30% of the rooftops of all new buildings over 1,000 m² for commercial or industrial use, with a target of covering 50% of the rooftop with photovoltaic panels by 2027.

SELF-CONSUME

A solar installation allows for a self-consumption system, securing electricity costs in the long term and reducing your energy bill.

GENERATE

additional income : photovoltaics rooftops also enable regular income, either through rental income or through the sale of electricity to the grid in the case of direct investment.

REDUCE

your carbon footprint : photovoltaic rooftops are directly aligned with efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through renewable energy production.
