Maintenance Technician

Discovering the role of a Maintenance Technician in solar energy

As the true guardian of the upkeep and proper functioning of solar power plants, the Maintenance Technician performs all corrective and preventive maintenance operations on the photovoltaic plants within the portfolio.

What are the daily responsibilities? (non-exhaustive list):

The Maintenance Technician ensures the proper functioning of production assets. Primarily working in the field, they also maintain constant communication with other departments, such as the supervision team, to ensure responsiveness. Their role encompasses both preventive and corrective tasks:

  • Preventive Maintenance: Inspecting, functional checks, testing, and measuring the photovoltaic plants in operation.
  • Corrective Maintenance: Diagnosing issues, performing maneuvers, repairs, testing, and restoring operational functionality to the photovoltaic plants.
  • Handling and resolving work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Supervising and verifying the proper execution of completed work.
  • Drafting intervention reports using digital tools.
  • Conducting pre-commissioning and commissioning checks for newly constructed plants.
  • Contributing to the development of maintenance tracking tools.

Responsibilities related to implementing the quality and environmental management system:

  • Applying the company’s Quality-Environment Policy and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Communicating and promoting best practices.
  • Contributing to achieving defined quality and environmental objectives.
  • Enhancing customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Adhering to established processes and procedures.
  • Completing quality and environmental records related to their activities.
  • Identifying, recording, and addressing non-conformities.
  • Participating in waste sorting and environmental protection (e.g., optimizing travel, reducing paper consumption, etc.).

What qualities are required?

While the role of a Maintenance Technician is primarily field-based and requires a strong interest in technology, other skills are also essential, including:

  • Adaptability: anticipating, troubleshooting, and optimizing production assets.
  • Strong reactivity and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and rigor.
  • Effective communication for intervention follow-ups.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to develop skills in line with the needs and innovations of the solar sector.

The role of a Maintenance Technician demands both technical and interpersonal skills. Their mission is vital, as they ensure the solar plant operates efficiently throughout its lifecycle.
